Artist's Comments

Due to the author of the original poem on here pitching a fit that her copyrighted poem was printed without her permission (I thought that the tribute was nice and didn't realize that poetry could be copyrighted like that) the picture will have to speak for itself.

Honor, Respect and Integrity, Courage and Strength. I give honor to my brothers and sisters in Blue and those who stand with us.

Brave, bold and beautiful. I know that your job must be hectic and painful to go through on a regular basis but i know it must be rewarding as well when it has a happy ending. I wish I had a career like that to really make me appreciate life. My own little job at the moment has taught me my own life lessons- to appreciate fellow workers and to know that loving children and having them are two different things. I know it doesn't make much of a difference, but we all do what we can.
I have my own troubles in life but I know that it is to each their own. I do wish though that I had a job like yours to strengthen me to modesty, honesty, courage, hope, love and acceptance. Thank you for putting this up because it's made me think deeply about what I take for granted :3

Two uncles of mine were officers. Russ, a Lieutenant in the West Linn PD and Curly, who was a Multnomah County Sheriff. (both in Oregon)

I respect you sister! I don't think I could do your job...too much to juggle :juggle:

Well tell your Uncles that I had thank you for the years and the dedication. And thank you for the comment.

I would only beg you to not let your skin get too tough.

I suppose that advice is easier to give than it is to actually work with but...

i apologize that you didn't feel that the tribute was worth printing your work, even though your name was noted in the bottom. I didn't realize that a poem could be copyrighted like that.
It has been removed from the deviation per your order and your apparent copyright.
I didn't even know it was on here. I got it from a law enforcement site.

Instead of pitching a fit about her pitching a fit, a simple link to her webpage would do. It is a nice tribute. I am sorry you didn't write it, and that you changed her name on it to yours. I respect cops, and understand you might have considered her to be speaking for all of you, but still, yes, copyright is copyright. Best regards,
Debra
a poet who wants credit for her words too, just as you'd like credit for your photos.

Actually I'll tell you what I told her. I found that poem on MySpace on a law enforcement site. The guy who monitors the site had listed his name and said that it was a poem that gets circulated for law enforcement. I inquired about it and he said that everyone puts their name at the top and posts it for law enforcement memorials and to put out there about law enforcment thoughts.
He never told me about who wrote it or that it was a copywrited work. Believe me, if I had known I certainly would have never put it up on here. I felt horrible when she wrote me and told me that it was hers and that it was copyrighted. I wish she had been a little....more pleasant about it, or asked me about it first. I had no idea. But it's gone now and I put the message on the pic. So it's over. I also sent a message to the guy on MySpace and removed the group from my friends list.
And I agree, I would be upset about someone doing that with one of my pics, but I would ask about it before I took a chunk out of their butt. But again, I know that most of us in law enforcement are a little...how should I say it...short on manners at times.

It's over now, I hope that she understands. But I never got a response...
